About Wild Heart Films
Wild Heart Films was formed in October of 1998 by Mandy Wildman and Laura Sherman. We mostly produce scripts we have written ourselves, and we often use actors we already know. We make ultra-low-budget films, as taught in the film making class at Wild Heart Studios. We focus on scripts that are character-driven, with an uplifting message. Laura is partial to sci-fi and mystery stories, while Mandy prefers period pieces. Depending on the type of script, we may consider participating in outside projects.
About 'In The Open'
In November of 1998, Wild Heart Films shot its first feature film, 'In The Open' written and produced by Laura Sherman and directed by Mandy Wildman. 'In The Open' is a film about six chess players who get together for a chess tournament, changing their lives and their game. It was shot on high-quality Hi8 video, and edited on a Media 100 editing system. It features an original sound track by Tonja Jacobsen, with some songs written or co-written by Patti Caron which will be released on CD later this year. Click here to see some production photos.
Gala Premiere
A gala premiere screening was held on September 18th 1999 at the beautiful Vinoy Hotel in St. Petersburg, Florida.

- Fox News 13 - In July of 2000 Fox 13 came to the set as we shot the trailer for All The World.
- The Education Channel - In June of 2002 Laura and Mandy were interviewed in a TV show about the fact that Fashion Statement and In The Open were both accepted into the Education Channel's Independent's Film Festival, airing July 21st, and July 26th on channel 18 in Hillsborough County.
